3 dead and 2 injured after driver plows through Walmart store

At least three people were confirmed dead and two others were injured in a recent incident where a vehicle plowed into Walmart’s facade in Pella, Iowa, an article of CBS News reported on December 2.

Information coming from witnesses said the 66-year-old Knoxville man was driving on December 1st at a high rate of speed when he struck the store’s glass facade and drove inside the store. The fatalities were two Walmart staffers and a shopper. Another shopper and the vehicle driver responsible for the collision sustained injuries as well. It was not clear during the incident if the driver was under the influence of intoxicants or if he had a medical condition when the crash took place.

Records showed he does not have any traffic or criminal violations. A state official told reports they think what happened was an accident and it may take some time for them to finish the investigation. As of reporting, no charges have been filed against the driver.



One dead in Iowa pedestrian accident

A man recently struck by a vehicle in Davenport, Iowa died as a a result of the serious injuries he sustained from the crash, a report of KWQC stated on Monday, November 14.

Information coming from Davenport police confirmed the 26-year-old man from Iowa City was pronounced dead on November 12, several days after he was struck by a vehicle in the 800 block of East Locust Street. The accident occurred on November 9 when the man was on the north side of the street at approximately 11:00 p.m. and the vehicle traveling on the same path struck him. The pedestrian, whose name was not released, was believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries when responding crews brought him to a local hospital.

After the incident, authorities did not file any charges or issue citations, and the driver who struck the pedestrian was not identified. Authorities also reported they are still conducting an investigation regarding the fatal accident.



Illinois motorcyclist killed in West Des Moines accident Sunday

An Illinois motorcyclist was killed in an accident Sunday. According to police reports, the accident occurred on Interstate 80 in West Des Moines.

The motorcyclist apparently crossed into oncoming traffic, causing the man to fall from his bicycle. After the fall, the man was hit by a sports utility vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. When medical officials arrived to the scene  of the motorcycle accident, the man was pronounced dead.



One killed, one injured in Dyersville car accident

A man died in an Iowa car accident Friday. According to police reports, the accident occurred on U.S. Highway 20 near Dyersville.

A car apparently was turning onto the highway when it was hit by another vehicle. When medical officials arrived to the scene of the auto accident, one man was pronounced dead at the scene while another man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.



One killed in Iowa ATV accident

One person died in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday. According to police reports, the accident occurred near Miles, Iowa.

While police did not release details of what caused the accident, a car apparently crashed into an all-terrain vehicle. The motor vehicle accident killed the driver of the ATV, while the other driver was injured.



Eighty-five-year-old woman killed in van accident

An 85-year-old woman was killed in an auto accident. According to police reports, the accident occurred in Conrad.

The woman was apparently driving east when she did not stop at a stop sign and hit a truck. While the truck driver was not injured in the accident, the woman was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later pronounced dead.

Iowa driver dies in Persia car accident

An Iowa driver died in a car accident last weekend. According to police reports, the accident occurred south of Persia in Harrison County. 

The man was apparently driving on Highway 191 when the accident occurred, although nobody witnessed the accident. As of Monday, police were still investigating the cause of the accident.

Woman killed in Guthrie County car accident

A woman was killed in a Guthrie County car accident Tuesday. According to police reports, the woman was driving down Highway 6 when she lost control of her car and crossed the center line. 

After crossing the center line, her car was hit by a van. When medical officials arrived to the scene, they pronounced the woman dead and took the van's driver and passenger to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Teen killed in snowmobile accident

A teenager died in a Humboldt snowmobile accident Wednesday. According to police reports, the teen was riding snowmobiles with friends. 

Apparently the driver was driving the snowmobile near a telephone pole and hit a wire. The accident knocked the teen off the vehicle. He was later taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Young girl dies in falling accident

A 3-year-old girl was left alone and fell from chair Monday. The accident badly injured the girl, and when she was taken to the hospital, she died while receiving treatment.
