Iowa footballer facing OWI charge

A charge of operating a vehicle while under the influence (OWI) was recently filed against football player Omar Truitt after he was arrested by Iowa City police.

Information coming from police said Truitt was stopped at the intersection of Linn Street and Iowa Avenue at 12:38 a.m. on Sunday, February 14. The defensive back player was taken into custody and charged after authorities found that his blood alcohol content level was 0.091 percent. According to the Iowa director of sports information, Steve Roe, Truitt is expected to be subjected to the University of Iowa Student Life Code of Conduct; the athletic department is still working to collect all of the information involving the incident.
