A van carrying six young girls in Hanlontown ran through a stop sign on Tuesday morning and was struck by a semi truck.
The impact of the collision caused three of the girls to be ejected from the van, killing two on impact. The third girl was airlifted to a nearby hospital and was listed in critical condition.
The 22-year-old female driver was taking the girls to an area where they could participate in canoeing. The girls were involved in a program that would allow them to incorporate different nature adventures into their summer schedules.
Our thoughts are with the families and friends of the young girls.
