On a Tuesday morning in April, an elderly woman was crossing the street in downtown Clear Lake when she was fatally hit by a truck.

The woman was struck in a crosswalk near Fourth Street and Main Street. The pedestrian accident left the 73-year-old woman with critical head injuries. When emergency responders arrived on the scene, they found the woman surrounded by bystanders who were attempting to help.

She was transported to a local hospital to have her head trauma addressed. She passed away due to complications from her injuries. The 87-year-old Clear Lake man who was operating the truck was not injured in the collision. At this time, no charges have been filed against him.
