Iowa authorities report that a 57-year-old Naperville man was killed in a pedestrian accident on Sunday.
The incident took place around 4:40 PM on Interstate 80 in Scott County in eastern Iowa. Police say that the man tried to cross the interstate and was struck by a semitrailer.
The 57-year-old man died instantly, and the truck driver was not injured.
Police are stil investigating the death and no charges have yet been filed.
Des Moines police report that a 91-year-old man was struck and killed by a dump truck near the downtown area Monday morning around 8 AM.
The pedestrian-vehicle accident took place when the man was attempting to cross the road in his motorized wheelchair. According to the dump truck driver, he was making a right turn at the same time and struck the man, who he says he did not see.
Police are still investigating but no charges have been filed.
Police report that a Davenport woman was killed in a car-pedestrian accident on Saturday, May 15, in East-Moline.
The incident occurred around midnight as the woman was crossing Avenue of the Cities. There were no traffic lights or crosswalks at the spot that she crossed.
She tripped and fell as she was crossing, and was unable to move out of the way of oncoming traffic.
The woman received serious head, neck, and chest injuries and died at the scene.
