One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident in Carroll, Tuesday night.

According to officials with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred on Highway 71, about a tenth of a mile south of 250th street in Carroll County. Deputies say 48 year-old Michael Ross, of Grand Junction, was traveling north on Highway 71 in a 2008 Mack Truck and tractor when he was rear-ended by a 2005 Ford Taurus driven by 18 year-old Cody Wills, of Carroll.

Deputies say 19 year-old Katie Schuler was injured in the accident. The nature and extent of her injuries was not immediately known. Two other passengers in Wills’ vehicle, 19 year-old James Martens and 26 year-old Alvin Evans were not harmed.

The Taurus sustained an estimated $3,500 in damage. The Mack Truck sustained an estimated $200 in damage.

The Sheriff’s Office reports the highway was 30 to 40 percent covered with snow at the time of the accident.

Two people died in a single-vehicle accident on Tuesday afternoon near Lyle.

The accident occurred around 2:08 p.m. on Hwy 218 south of Lyle, near the Minnesota border. The 79-year-old driver of the 2003 Cadillac lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road. The car drove into a ditch, hit a tree, and overturned in a small body of water near the highway. The driver and his 79-year-old passenger, residents of Osage, were killed.
