Responsibility of addressing Takata recall is on automakers
U.S. auto safety regulators recently said it is the responsibility of automakers to fully address all the vehicles that may have hazardous Takata airbags, a report of Fortune stated on November 3.
Chief of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) worries the efforts of car manufacturers to repair their vehicles that might still have defective airbags are insufficient. Millions of vehicles in the U.S. are under recall because they have Takata airbags that could explode during deployment and release pieces of metal from a broken inflator. The airbag defect was linked to dozens of deaths and injuries in the U.S. and other countries. Takata faced pressure from the NHTSA to issue the recall.
