Motorcyclist killed in Mason City road accident

A motorcyclist was killed on June 17 when he was involved in a car-motorcycle accident in Mason City, an article of Globe Gazette reported.

Reports stated the motorcycle-car accident happened near the intersection of North Pierce Avenue and Eighth Street Northwest. The motorcycle rider was identified as a 51-year-old Mason City resident operating a 2005 model of a Harley-Davidson Sportster on North Pierce Avenue when he was struck by a Toyota Corolla operated by a 74-year-old woman, also from Mason City. The collision took place when the motorcycle collided with the car after the car turned left from Eighth Street Northwest.

Reports revealed that the motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries while the female driver was treated at the crash scene. The accident resulted in the blocking of North Pierce Avenue while personnel from different agencies worked on the scene. Mason City authorities are now investigating the accident.
