Driver charged in fatal pedestrian accident

The driver responsible for hitting a man walking on a crosswalk was recently charged, the Sioux City Journal reported on June 4.

According to reports, the incident occurred on May 29 when Robert Ibsgaard, 70, was traversing the street on a crosswalk at Hamilton Boulevard when he was struck by a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Mark Beltran. Ibsgaard died on June 4 due to serious injuries he sustained from the crash. Aside from the charges already filed against Beltran, police may add charges after state prosecutors study the case.
