Traffic deaths in Iowa decreased in 2013
The number of road-related fatalities that have occurred this year are lower than the number that occurred last year, according to Iowa State Patrol. According to Iowa State Patrol Sgt. Scott Bright, 322 traffic deaths were reported last year, whereas only 280 deaths have been reported thus far for this year.
Sgt. Bright noted that the education of drivers, additional enforcers, and advanced development in the safety features and designs of vehicles have likely played roles in decreasing this number. The Sergeant further stressed that many motorists survived car crashes due to the improved safety feature on the Iowa Interstate in which cable lines were set up in the median lane to prevent vehicles from crossing to the other side of the road.
Tragically, many people in Iowa lose their lives in car accidents caused by reckless drivers.
