Des Moines officer accidentally runs over pedestrian

A pedestrian was lying in the street in Des Moines during the early morning hours on Tuesday when her legs were run over by a patrol vehicle.

The incident took place near Stone Lane and 10th Street. The officer was responding to a call that came from a concerned individual regarding the woman lying in an alley way. The officer was searching for the woman, but did not see her until his vehicle made contact with her legs.

The woman only sustained minor injuries, and was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated. The officer stated that the woman was intoxicated at the time of the incident. No charges are expected to be filed in this case, and an investigation is still being conducted.
