Iowa sees increase in fatal crashes

Posted on February 29th, 2012 No Comments

Officials in the state of Iowa have said that the number of fatal accidents have increased this year and are attributing this to the change in the weather.

“This year has been different because we had a storm and then we don’t have snow for a month or two so they go back to their original driving conditions and they we get another storm and that when we see a lot of collisions because they don’t become adjusted for three months, You have a break in between,” said Sgt. Scott Bright with the Iowa State Patrol.

Officials have stated that many drivers are not realizing the danger in just a light layer of snow on the roadway. Officials have said that the second cause in an increase has been attributed to distracted driving.
