One Injured in Iowa Bus Accident

A man was injured in an Iowa bus accident Wednesday on Interstate 275.

According to officials with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, the accident occurred shortly after 7:00 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-275, just west of the Hebron exit. Deputies say 33 year-old John Gribshover was driving a Dodge Neon in the left lane when he swerved to avoid debris. Gripshover lost control of his vehicle and spun into the guardrail, then into a Boone County school bus that was in the right lane. Both vehicles were then clipped by a tractor trailer.

The bus, driven by 55 year-old Stephen Fields, was carrying 12 students at the time of the crash. No one on the bus was injured in the accident. The driver of the tractor trailer, 43 year-old Pamela Peirano, was not injured, deputies say.

Gripshover sustained a minor leg injury in the accident. He was transported to an area hospital by his wife.

The accident remains under investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.
