A bicyclist was struck and killed by a car in Calmar last week and authorities with the Iowa State Patrol have identified the victim.

A 70-year-old man was riding his bicycle on a trail that crossed over the roadway around 4:20 p.m. when a 27-year-old man in a pickup truck struck him near Highway 52.

The 70-year-old man was killed from injuries sustained in the accident. It is unknown whether police officials have given any citation in the accident because it is still under investigation.
