Police report that late Sunday, a large air compressor exploded at a Viking Pump manufacturing plant in Cedar Rapids. There were no injuries.

Firefighters called to the scene around 11:30 p.m. found minimal fire damage but excessive smoke. Although the fire was quickly brought under control, it is still not clear to what extent damages occurred.

Viking Pump makes industrial pumps for a number of purposes.
