An ammonia leak on Iowa Highway 17 shut down the highway earlier this week. According to police reports, the leak occurred near Boone.

The leak was the result of a truck crashing into a snowbank and overturning into a ditch. Although there was a chemical leak, no one was injured in the accident, and the highway was shut down for three hours.
