Who is responsible for damages in a commercial trucking accident?

Posted on January 22nd, 2010 No Comments

When individuals are involved in accidents with commercial trucks, they are often unsure whether to seek damages from the driver or the trucking company.

In many cases, the driver should seek damages from the trucking company because they are often responsible for their drivers' damages. However, if the truck driver is found to be negligent, then the driver may be responsible for damages.

Attorneys can often judge on a case-by-case basis whether it is better to seek damages from a driver or trucking company. If you or anyone you know has been injured in a trucking accident, contact the Des Moines truck accident attorneys of LaMarca & Landry, P.C., at 877-327-2600.

Can taking precribed medicine lead to an automobile accident?

Posted on January 13th, 2010 No Comments

People are prescribed medicine for a variety of medical conditions. While many of these medications help treat the illness, they can also have a number of side effects that make driving dangerous.

For instance, some medications make people drowsy. The resulting tiredness behind the wheel can impair a person's ability to drive or cause them to fall asleep.

In most cases, the doctor who prescribes the medication will inform the patient of any side effects. However, the driver could be held responsible for any auto accidents caused by the drug's side effects.

What is attorney-client privilege?

Posted on January 13th, 2010 No Comments

Attorney-client privilege is a legal provision ensuring that client and attorney conversations remain confidential. The purpose of this privilege is to allow open and honest conversations between an attorney and client.

In almost all cases, this privilege cannot be taken away. However, in some states, the privilege is limited by some restrictions.

One exception to attorney-client privilege occurs when an attorney has information that he or she believes will help prevent a future crime. For instance, if a client tells an attorney that he or she intends to murder another person, then the attorney is typically allowed to divulge this information to the proper authorities.

While these navigation systems are useful for navigation purposes, they can also be harmful to drivers because they are a source of distraction. When drivers are distracted by the inputs and directions of their navigation systems, they are more likely to be involved in traffic accidents.

While the process of jumping a car battery is typically not complex, it still poses a risk of injury. One of the most types of accidents is a battery explosion.

A battery may explode if hydrogen gas emitted from the battery reacts with a spark that occurs near the battery. Such a spark can occur when connecting jumper cables. For this reason, when individuals jump car batteries, they should exercise extra caution.
