DART bus hits woman in downtown Des Moines

Posted on August 4th, 2009 No Comments

A DART bus hit a pedestrian Monday in downtown Des Moines. The
woman was taken to Iowa Methodist Medical Center where she was treated
for her injuries.

In the past two years, DART buses in Iowa have hit a number of
pedestrians. In response, Iowa officials have enacted two new rules,
which inculde a temporary turn-and-honk policy and a ban on left hand
turns in downtown areas.

The recent accident occurred a week after DART settled a lawsuit for $2.74 million with a pedestrian who was hit last year.
