Circulatory Shock First Aid

A major risk following a serious injury is the possibility of circulatory shock, a medical condition that results from an interruption in the body’s blood flow. Any symptoms of this problem should never be overlooked, as it can progress very quickly. If a person in shock does not receive emergency medical treatment in time, the condition can be fatal.

If you or a loved one has suffered serious harm caused by another party’s negligent behavior, the Iowa personal injury lawyers of LaMarca Law Group, P.C. can help. We will work hard to build a solid case and argue for your rights in and out of court. Call our offices today at 877-327-2600.

Recognizing Circulatory Shock

A person can go into shock if he or she is bleeding heavily, suffering from heart failure, or affected by certain kinds of infections or other conditions. The precise symptoms may vary depending on the cause and extent of shock, but the following warning signs apply across almost all cases:

  • Cold and clammy skin
  • Shallow breathing
  • Confusion or disorientation
  • Racing heart
  • Dilated pupils

If an injured or sick person is showing some or all of these symptoms, call emergency services right away. While you are waiting for help, keep the person’s wound elevated and try to help him or her stay warm. People in this condition should remain still, preferably lying down.

If you or a loved one has experienced circulatory shock or any other medical problem as a result of a negligent act, our Iowa personal injury lawyers can help.
